Partnership action to clamp down on anti-social behaviour problems reported in the Neath and Port Talbot town centres gathered further momentum today.
Representatives from the police, community safety, neighbourhood and substance misuse and homelessness agencies, were brought back together by Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Public Protection, Cllr Des Davies to discuss progress in addressing concerns raised by local traders, elected Members and the wider community.
The meeting received a comprehensive update on the progress of Operation Grey Denver which is designed to investigate the underlying causes of problems in the town centre and then to co-ordinate actions across partner agencies to resolve those problems.
The meeting heard that a number of specific individuals had been identified as being at the centre of the problems. Police, substance misuse and homelessness agencies are working together to ensure that those who need support are accessing the services available in the area, whilst for persistent offenders a more robust line is being developed with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Traders are also playing a key role, with around 40 additional businesses indicating a wish to join the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP). The BCRP provides a very useful forum for businesses to work together with the wider community safety partnership to ensure problems are identified at an early stage and where this is the case a speedy and effective response can be pulled together.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Davies said: “I was really pleased to hear about the progress made by agencies since I called the meeting to discuss public and trader concerns a month ago. I would like to thank all of those involved for their comprehensive and effective response. We are already seeing signs of improvement in the town centre and have received positive feedback from both traders and those who use the town centre”.
Cllr Davies continued, “It is important that the momentum continues to make sure that problems are resolved and do not recur. I know that all community safety partners have made a commitment to ensuring this is the case.”
“I would urge members of the public to also play their part by ringing 101 to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour that they witness. The more reports we receive, the better the picture of anti-social behaviour we will be able to develop and that will enable all agencies to direct their resources in a targeted way.”

Ymgais i Atal Ymddygiad Gwrthgymdeithasol
Cafwyd mwy o gynnydd heddiw o ran camau gweithredu partneriaeth i geisio atal problemau ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol yr adroddwyd amdanynt yng nghanol trefi Castell-nedd a Phort Talbot.
Galwyd cynrychiolwyr o'r heddlu, diogelwch cymunedol, ac asiantaethau cymdogaethau, camddefnyddio sylweddau a digartrefedd ynghyd gan Aelod y Cabinet dros Ddiogelwch Cymunedol a Diogelu'r Cyhoedd, y Cyng. Des Davies, i drafod cynnydd wrth fynd i'r afael â phryderon a godwyd gan fasnachwyr lleol, aelodau etholedig a'r gymuned ehangach.
Rhoddwyd yr wybodaeth ddiweddaraf i bawb yn y cyfarfod ar gynnydd Ymgyrch Grey Denver a luniwyd i ymchwilio i achosion sylfaenol problemau yng nghanol y dref ac yna i gydlynu camau gweithredu ar draws asiantaethau partner i ddatrys y problemau hynny.
Clywodd y cyfarfod fod sawl unigolyn penodol a oedd wrth wraidd y problemau hyn wedi cael eu nodi. Mae'r heddlu ac asiantaethau camddefnyddio sylweddau a digartrefedd yn gweithio gyda'i gilydd i sicrhau bod y rhai y mae angen cefnogaeth arnynt yn defnyddio'r gwasanaethau sydd ar gael yn yr ardal. Mae Gwasanaeth Erlyn y Goron wrthi hefyd yn datblygu dull gweithredu mwy cadarn i ymdrin â throseddwyr mynych.
Mae masnachwyr hefyd yn chwarae rhan allweddol, gydag oddeutu 40 o fusnesau ychwanegol yn dweud eu bod am ymuno â'r Bartneriaeth Lleihau Troseddau Busnes (PLlTB). Mae'r PLlTB yn darparu fforwm defnyddiol er mwyn i fusnesau weithio gyda'i gilydd gyda'r Bartneriaeth Diogelwch Cymunedol ehangach i sicrhau y nodir problemau ar gam cynnar, a lle bo hyn yn wir, gellir ymateb mewn ffordd gyflym ac effeithiol.
Wrth siarad ar ôl y cyfarfod, meddai'r Cyng. Davies, "Roeddwn yn falch iawn o glywed am y cynnydd a wnaed gan asiantaethau ers i mi alw’r cyfarfod i drafod pryderon masnachwyr a'r cyhoedd fis yn ôl. Hoffwn i bawb sy'n rhan o hyn am eu hymateb cynhwysfawr ac effeithiol. Rydym eisoes yn gweld arwyddion o welliant yng nghanol y dref ac wedi derbyn adborth cadarnhaol gan fasnachwyr a'r rhai sy'n defnyddio canol y dref".
Parhaodd y Cyng. Davies, "Mae'n bwysig bod y momentwm yn parhau er mwyn sicrhau bod y problemau'n cael eu datrys ac nid ydynt yn ailddechrau. Rwy'n gwybod bod yr holl bartneriaid diogelwch cymunedol wedi gwneud ymrwymiad i sicrhau mai felly y mae."
"Byddwn yn annog aelodau'r cyhoedd i chwarae eu rhan hefyd drwy ffonio 101 i adrodd am unrhyw achosion o ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol maent yn eu gweld. Po fwyaf o adroddiadau rydym yn eu derbyn, gorau'r darlun y gallwn ei ddatblygu o ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, a bydd hynny'n galluogi'r holl asiantaethau i gyfeirio'u hadnoddau mewn ffordd benodol."
