Neath Port Talbot Council is currently undertaking a review of all its Polling Districts and Polling Stations within the County Borough area.
As part of the consultation process, Chief Executive and Returning Officer Mr. Steven Phillips is keen to encourage individual electors as well as community groups and organisations to submit their views on the current polling arrangements.
Mr. Phillips said: “To assist us in ensuring that all our polling districts and polling stations are as accessible as possible I am keen to encourage as many individuals and community groups as possible to make their views heard during this consultation period. This will allow us to ensure that our polling arrangements are as convenient as possible for any future elections or referendums.”
When making representations individuals and community groups are advised to provide as much relevant information as they can about their current polling station, including issues such as location, parking and disability access and whether they are aware of any other suitable premises that could be used for polling duties.
Consultation submissions must be received by Friday, 15 March and further information along with a questionnaire form can be found at https://www.npt.gov.uk/17990.
ENDS
Editor’s Notes:
Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is required to complete a full review of all polling districts and polling places every four years. However this does not prevent changes being made at any time prior to the next review.
The arrangements made for United Kingdom Parliamentary elections are also used at all other elections and referenda.
What is a Polling District?
A polling district is a geographical area and legislation requires that each community area must be a separate polling district.
What is a Polling Place?
A ‘polling place’ is the geographical area, in which a polling station is located. There is no legal definition of what a polling place is. The geographical area could be defined as tightly as a particular building or as widely as the entire polling district. Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has defined each polling district as the polling place rather than a particular building for practical purposes.
What is a Polling Station?
A polling station is the actual area where the process of voting takes place, e.g. a room in a community centre or school.

Adolygiad o Ddosbarthiadau Etholiadol ar waith
Mae Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot ar hyn o bryd yn cynnal adolygiad o'i holl ddosbarthiadau etholiadol a'i orsafoedd pleidleisio yn y fwrdeistref sirol.
Fel rhan o'r broses ymgynghori, mae'r Prif Weithredwr a'r Swyddog Canlyniadau, Mr Steven Phillips, yn awyddus i annog etholwyr unigol ynghyd â grwpiau cymunedol a sefydliadau i gyflwyno eu barn ynghylch y trefniadau pleidleisio presennol.
Meddai Mr Phillips, "I'n cynorthwyo wrth sicrhau bod ein holl ddosbarthiadau etholiadol a'n gorsafoedd pleidleisio mor hygyrch â phosib, rwy'n awyddus i annog cynifer o unigolion a grwpiau cymunedol â phosib i ddweud eu dweud yn ystod y cyfnod ymgynghori hwn. Bydd hyn yn ein galluogi i sicrhau bod ein trefniadau pleidleisio mor gyfleus â phosib ar gyfer unrhyw etholiadau neu refferenda yn y dyfodol."
Mewn perthynas â chyflwyno sylwadau, cynghorir unigolion a grwpiau cymunedol i ddarparu cymaint o wybodaeth berthnasol â phosib am eu gorsaf bleidleisio bresennol, gan gynnwys materion megis lleoliad, parcio a hygyrchedd i'r anabl ac a ydynt yn ymwybodol o unrhyw fangre addas arall y gellid ei defnyddio at ddibenion dyletswyddau pleidleisio.
Mae'n rhaid cyflwyno sylwadau ar yr ymgynghoriad erbyn dydd Gwener 15 Mawrth a gellir dod o hyd i fwy o wybodaeth, ynghyd â ffurflen holiadur, yn https://www.npt.gov.uk/17990?lang=cy-gb.
DIWEDD
Nodiadau'r Golygydd:
Mae'n ofynnol i Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Castell-nedd Port Talbot gwblhau adolygiad llawn o'r holl ddosbarthiadau etholiadol a'r mannau pleidleisio bob pedair blynedd. Fodd bynnag, nid yw hyn yn atal gwneud newidiadau ar unrhyw adeg cyn yr adolygiad nesaf.
Caiff y trefniadau a wneir ar gyfer etholiadau seneddol y Deyrnas Unedig eu defnyddio hefyd ym mhob etholiad a refferendwm arall.
Beth yw Dosbarth Etholiadol?
Mae dosbarth etholiadol yn ardal ddaearyddol ac mae'r ddeddfwriaeth yn datgan bod rhaid i bob ardal gymunedol fod yn ddosbarth etholiadol ar wahân.
Beth yw Man Pleidleisio?
Ardal ddaearyddol yw 'man pleidleisio', lle mae'r orsaf bleidleisio. Nid oes unrhyw ddiffiniad cyfreithiol ar gyfer man pleidleisio. Gellir diffinio'r ardal ddaearyddol yn gyfyng fel adeilad penodol neu'n eang fel yr holl ddosbarth etholiadol. Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Castell-nedd Port Talbot wedi diffinio pob dosbarth etholiadol fel y man pleidleisio yn hytrach nag adeilad penodol at ddibenion ymarferol.
Beth yw Gorsaf Bleidleisio?
Gorsaf bleidleisio yw'r ardal lle cynhelir y broses o bleidleisio e.e. ystafell mewn canolfan gymunedol neu ysgol.
