Neath Port Talbot Council’s Employment and Training Service for adults with disabilities is set to host a summer fair this Friday.
The Neath Abbey based service, known as Bspoked Enterprises, is inviting members of the public to come and view the handcrafted products created by people who attend the service.
The service aims to give adults with disabilities the opportunity to build confidence, develop employment skills and become more independent. Everyone who attends the service is given the opportunity to learn about the whole process of marketing a product, including designing, manufacturing and selling.
All of the products are made using repurposed materials such as glass, wood, bike parts and fabrics. The finished products are then sold as household items and personalised gifts such as clocks, ornaments, garden furniture, photo frames and lots more.
The fair will also include local craft maker’s stalls, a raffle, coconut shy, staff in stocks raising money for charity, promotional stalls to provide information to parents and care providers, a cake sale, barbeque and refreshments.
Councillor Peter Richards, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services and Health, said:
“The summer fair is a great opportunity to show off the hard work and dedication that everyone has put in to making the products. It is clear from the quality of what is made at Bspoked Enterprises that everyone who attends the service has a lot of ambition and ability.
“Giving people with disabilities the opportunity to develop their skills and gain confidence is essential to them reaching their full potential and becoming more independent.”
The fair will be open between 10am and 3pm on Friday 9th August 2019 at Bspoked Enterprises, Monastery Road, Neath Abbey, Neath, SA10 7DR.
