Neath Port Talbot Council’s ‘NPT Safe and Well’ service, launched as part of its response to the coronavirus outbreak, is already proving to be a life-line for many residents.
A major focus of the new service is to provide help for vulnerable residents who have been told to stay at home to shield themselves, but may not have the support of family and friends.
Thanking the hundreds of volunteers who registered to support the service, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Councillor Rob Jones said:
“Over 500 local volunteers came forward and almost 800 residents who were told to stay at home to protect themselves are now receiving assistance from these kind-hearted people. As well as helping arrange food deliveries and picking up prescriptions, they also keep in contact to check how these vulnerable people are”.
Anyone who needs such support at this time is asked to call Neath Port Talbot Council on 01639 686868. More stories
