Keri Warren has been appointed as Neath Port Talbot Council’s new head of children’s services.
A qualified social worker with over 29 years experience, Keri joined Neath Port Talbot over 5 years ago as the principal officer for children and young people services (CYPS) single point of contact and intake team. Keri has since held numerous senior roles such as being responsible for the team around the family service, the strategic lead for CYPS community teams and more recently, the principal officer lead for safeguarding. In December 2017, Keri became the interim head of service for children’s services.
Councillor Alan Lockyer, cabinet member for children’s social services, said:
“I am delighted we have appointed Keri as our new head of children’s services.
“Keri brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, and will lead a dedicated workforce who are committed to giving all children and young people the best start in life.
“I look forward to working alongside Keri to build more effective services that will meet the needs of families in Neath Port Talbot.”
Going forward, Keri will be looking to build on improvements in children’s services to ensure: all children and young people are safe and feel safe, early prevention support is targeted at those families who need it, better use of community resources to enable families to strengthen their own capacity to improve wellbeing, all young people have a say in decisions that affect them, and the smooth transition into adult services when required.
